Procedure for selecting postgraduate students for the MSc program in "Special Education and Training"
The Department of Primary Education of the University of Ioannina annually accepts postgraduate students for the Master’s Program (MSc) in “Special Education and Training.” The number of admitted students ranges from 10 to 50, despite receiving more than 150 applications. The program accepts graduates from Departments of Primary Education, graduates from domestic and foreign recognized university departments, as well as graduates from former Technological Educational Institutes (TEI). Interested candidates are required to submit their application electronically during the first ten days of September through the following link: https://pms.ptde.uoi.gr/eidiki_agogi/eidiki_agogi.php , following the relevant announcement published on the Department’s website in the “Department Announcements” section during the second ten days of July and on the MSc “Special Education and Training” website. Upon submitting the application, each candidate receives a Candidate Code, ensuring the protection of personal data.
Candidates are examined in a written test related to Special Education and Training, based on the subjects announced during the call for applications. They are also examined in one of the following foreign languages: English, French, or German, except for those holding a Level C1 or higher foreign language certificate or equivalent according to the legislation and the Internal Regulations of the MSc “Special Education and Training,” or those holding degrees from foreign universities whose official language of instruction coincides with one of the above-mentioned languages or graduates of Greek Universities’ Departments of Foreign Languages. The written examination in the foreign language precedes and success in it is a prerequisite for participating in the examination of the subject matter that follows. The exact dates of the written examinations (in the foreign language and the subject matter) are communicated to the candidates through a subsequent invitation on the Department’s website.
Candidates who pass the written examination, with a score of ≥30 (as 30 is the base of the written test), are immediately called for an oral interview. The final ranking of the postgraduate students is based on the following criteria: undergraduate degree grade (10 points), written examination grade (60 points), interview grade (20 points), certified attendance of seminars related to Special Education and Training, publications in reputable journals (3 points), and the grade of the undergraduate thesis (if applicable) (7 points). The total score a candidate can receive is 100 points. During the interview, specific criteria such as performance in undergraduate subjects related to the specialization, knowledge of a foreign language (level B or C), possession of a master’s degree, participation in relevant activities/programs, knowledge of Braille writing, and knowledge of Greek sign language are considered.
Successful candidates are required to submit the following documents to enroll:
- Copy of the undergraduate degree and other relevant diplomas (for foreign degrees, official recognition by DIKATS/DOATAP is required).
- Language proficiency certificates.
A successful candidate who fails to submit any of the required enrollment documents is excluded from the program, and the position is filled by the first candidate in the ranking.
